INNOVATIVE PolIcy MakIng In the MedIterranean

AIM OF THE PROJECT

The project aims to accelerate capacity building and innovative modalities for enhancement of intercultural and regional dialogue in the Mediterranean region with specific reference to Eastern and Southern Mediterranean. It will not only help strengthening the links between cultural policies and development policies of the countries in the region, but also promote freedom of expression, independence, pluralism and transparency.

OBJECTIVES

The main objectives of the Project are as follows:

v     It will help mainstreaming cultural diversity into policy agendas at national, regional and international levels;

v     It will sustain the role of cultural creation in human and economic development;

v     It will promote and highlight the expression of linguistic diversity through communicating transparency and accountability, and thus will improve the culture of peace;

v     It will help and sustain capacity building for regional dialogue in the Mediterranean region through networking of policy makers, intellectuals, academia, NGOs, and media;

The project will help developing innovative modalities for enhancement of intercultural and regional dialogue in the Mediterranean.

ACTIVITIES

The activities envisaged throughout the project are summarized as below within the context of the project calendar. Accordingly, there will be an international workshop and a symposium organized in tune with the objectives laid out above.  These will also be supported through the press meetings and the project reports and proceedings, as well as other project material distributed throughout the project implementation process and beyond, also in line with the regional character of the project. Capacity building measures are an integral part of the project which also makes it unique vis-à-vis other projects.
